“Graduates Shine at Closing Ceremony of Three-Months Library and Information Management Training Program”

Kathmandu, 4 Dec. – The Library and Information Management Training Program concluded with a closing ceremony on December 4, 2024, at the Conference Hall of the Dilliraman-Kalyani Regmi Memorial Library in Lazimpat. The event celebrated the successful completion of a three-month intensive program aimed at equipping participants with vital skills and knowledge in library and information management to meet the demands of the evolving professional landscape.

The ceremony commenced with a welcome speech by the Vice-president of NLA, Mr. Surendra Prasad Duwal, who commended the participants for their dedication and commitment throughout the course. “Man is not the result of his circumstances, but of his actions. Every day is a reflection of who he is becoming through the actions he does.”Mr. Duwal stated. Training Coordinator, Ms. Pooja Sharma, provided an overview of the activities conducted during the training sessions, which were organized in association with Kaiser Library. She emphasized the program’s interactive and practical approach to learning.

Following the speech, the highlight of the event was the certificate distribution, where each of the 27 participants received a certificate of completion. The certificates were presented by the Chief guest for the program, Mr.Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. He praised the participants for their hard work, resilience, and determination to grow in librarianship roles. Mr. Rudra Prasad Dulal, Former Associate Professor at Tribhuvan University, shared his moral guidance and offered suggestions for the betterment of this profession as a special guest.

Likewise, the Head of Central Department of Library and Information Science, Dr. Lila Nyaichai cheered for the successful completion of the training and extended her best wishes to the participants by saying “Today marks not just the end of a training program but the beginning of a new chapter in your librarianship journey,” Further, she emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in librarianship roles.

Throughout the ceremony, participants reflected on their learning experiences, sharing insights on the challenges they faced and the skills they developed. As a matter of appreciation, three of the participants bagged the first, second and third prizes viz Subina Maka, Manisha Rai and Kshamata Rai respectively. On behalf of the entire participants, Subina Maka expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from industry experts and network with peers.

The program witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests, including Mr. Rudra Prasad Dulal, Former Associate Professor-TU, Mr. Yadhav Chandra Niroula, Chief of Kaiser Library; Mr. Pradip Bhattarai, Chief of Nepal National Library; Mr. Arun Rai, Under Secretary; Mr. Yajya Raj Bhatt, Director of Library Development Forum (LDF); and Ms. Janaki Karmacharya, Former Chief of Kaiser Library. The event also brought together library officers, veterans, government officials, and library enthusiasts, adding to its significance.

The closing ceremony concluded with the end notes by the President of NLA, Mr. Pushpa Raj Subedi. He urged the participants to implement the lessons learned during the training in their respective fields to become catalysts for positive change. A group photo and a networking session were arranged, where participants and trainers mingled, exchanged ideas, and discussed future collaborations. The event was a resounding success, leaving everyone inspired and motivated to implement the skills they had acquired during the course.

This training program, which focuses on the entire knowledge impartment on library and information management, has equipped participants with the tools needed to excel in their careers and make impactful contributions to their organizations.

NLA expressed its commitment to offering more such training programs in the future, aimed at fostering professional growth and excellency.
